Introduction:-

Indian Amla Plant-Gooseberry also known as Indian gooseberry is a very important crop of India with very high medicinal qualities. Its fruits are the riches source of Vitamin-C and a liver tonic. The fruit is values as antiscorbutic, diuretic, laxative, anti-dysentery. It is in great demand with pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry and is also used in making pickles.It forms an important ingredient in Chayanprash, hair oils, candies, mouth freshners and other items.

Climatic Requirement:-

Indian Amla Plant-Gooseberry is a tropical plant and requires around 630 to 800 mm of rainfall. A mature plant can withstand freezing temperature as well as high temperature up to 46 degree Celsius.

Soil Requirement:-

Indian Amla Plant-Gooseberry grows well in light and medium heavy soil except pure Sandy soil. It grows well in alkaline soil also and in regions which are normally dry.

Indian Amla Plant- Gooseberry Spacing Recommendation:-

It is recommended to plant 200 seedlings per acre with varying distance to suit the Grower. 4.5 mts x 4.5 mts is the ideal spacing between the plants.

 Harvesting & Yield of Indian Amla Plant-Gooseberry

  A mature Indian Amla Plant-Gooseberry  tree of 10 years will yield around 50 to 70 Kg of fruit. A well maintained tree will  Yield fruit up to 70 years.
