About 450 teak plants can be grown in one acre of farm land which may be increased or decreased by adopting different spacing strategies to suit the commercial farmer.
Benefits of Tissue Cultured Teak Plant Farming :-
- Fast Growth
- Disease Free
- Same height and girth
- Yield starts from the 8th year
- No branches and non-flaky trunks
- The uniformity in height and girth results in high volume yields
- Returns on yield would be high as the formation is 75 % heart wood and 25% sap wood
- Prevents up to 30% wind damage to other crop plants if used as fencing tree due to uniform and straight growth
Tissue Cultured Teak Plant flourishes in moist warm tropical climate but can withstand extreme of temperatures, however it grows well in a maximum temperature ranging between 39 to 44 degree celsius and minimum temperature 13 to 18 degree Celsius. It requires a rainfall between 1200 to 2500 mm and a high light intensity for proper growth.
