    Other names of red sandalwoodRed sandalwood is called by many names. Scientists call it Perocarpus Santalinus. Apart from this, it is called by many names like Ratanjali, Raktachandanam, Atti, Shen Chandanam, Lal Chandan, Ruby.

    Rich in medicinal propertiesSandalwood has anti-bacterial properties, due to which it is used on a large scale to cure skin diseases. Sandalwood is used in every household for spots and pimples. Not only this, sunburnt skin i.e. tanning can also be removed from it. It has the properties of quick healing of wounds. Burning sandalwood paste on small wounds and scratches gives quick relief. Red sandalwood is also used to avoid cancer and diseases of the punch system.

    Overseas demandThere is more demand for red sandalwood in foreign countries than in India. It is in demand in many countries including Singapore, Japan, Australia, but red sandalwood is most in demand in China. where itsis paid dearly. You can trade internationally by cultivating it

    .Necessary for farmingOnce you have planted red sandalwood tree, you have to wait for at least 10 to 15 years. Till then proper care of plants is necessary. When the plant grows well and becomes a tree, then its value becomes in lakhs. Before cultivating them, you have to take a license from the government.

    Soil and TimeDry hot climate is perfect for red sandalwood cultivation. Loamy soil where there is proper drainage system, the pH value of the soil should be between 4.5 to 6.5. Keep in mind that they cannot be cultivated in sandy and snowy areas. The best time for transplanting plants is between May and June.

    land preparation and plantingYou will get red sandalwood plant for transplanting anywhere from nursery for 100 to 150 rupees. Before planting you have to prepare the field. Make the soil crumbly by plowing the field two to three times. Now make the field level by placing a footing. After this, make 45 cm wide and equally deep pits in the fields at a distance of 4-4 meters. Now fill them with cow dung manure only after that plant them. Where the plants are planted, there should be proper drainage system because excessive water damages them.

    IrrigationThese plants require only two to three liters of water in a week. That’s why make arrangements for irrigation keeping this thing in mind. Irrigation is necessary after transplanting. After this add water according to the season. After that keep in mind that there should be no water logging.

    Weeds, Diseases and PestsLike all crops, weeds should not be allowed to accumulate around the sandalwood plants.This stops the growth of plants. There are more insects that eat leaves. That is why spraying of pest control is necessary.

    profitsTrees can be harvested after ten to fifteen years. If you want, you can also grow any other crop between these trees for so many years. Talking about investment, lakhs of rupees are spent in the maintenance of trees for so many years, but after selling the trees, crores are earned. The government increases the prices of sandalwood every year. Their price is between 30 thousand to 40 thousand per kg. From this you can estimate how much profit you can earn.
