Lemon Plant

Introduction:-

Lime is one of the major fruit yielding plant and is mostly grown in the state of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujrat and Bihar and in limited number in other states of India

Climatic Requirement:-

A subtropical climate is favorable for growth of lime tree, average temperature below 40 degree is harmful for the plants in the young stage. For root growth the optimum soil temperature should be around 25 degree Celsius. A low rainfall in summer ranging between 75 to 25 cms is ideal for proper growth and cultivation of the plant

Soil Requirement:-

Lime plants grow well in light soil having good drainage. PH range between 5.5 to 7.5 is considered good for the crop however it can also grow well in PH ranging below the 5.5 and above 7.5

Spacing Practiced:-

Following spacing guideline can be followed for lime tree plantation

4.5 mts x 4.5 mts approx. 494 plants per hectare.

Yield on Harvesting:-

The fruits get ready for harvest between 2 to 3 years of plantation and an average tree yields 60 to 70 limes at a time which increases with the age of the tree and stabilizes after the plant attains a age of 8 years.
