Introduction:-

Papaya Plan-Red Lady has become very popular due to its fast growth and high yield, long fruiting period and high nutrient value as a fruit and well as its use as a vegetable. It has no doubt become a highly profitable crop now due to its nutrient value and medicinal benefits. The papaya plant has male, female and hermaphrodite and other complex forms. While male plants do not bear any fruits. The female plant bear shorter fruit and the hermaphrodite plant is longer.

Climatic Requirement:-

Papaya Plant-Red Lady grows well in a tropical climate. The plant is extremely sensitive to chills and frost. It does not grow below 16 degree Celsius and the best temperature that suits its growth is between 25 to 30 degree Celsius. It requires adequate rainfall but should have a well-drained soil. Dry weather at the time of fruit ripping is good for the plant.

Soil Requirement:-

Papaya Plant-Red Lady requires an optimum  PH  between 6 to 7.5 and the solid should be well drained or sandy loamy soil with enough organic matter. In areas with high rainfall the drainage should be proper else the plant dies. Water logging is harmful for the soil even if it is for few hours only. The growing field should be irrigable and kept at suitable soil moisture which is necessary for the growth of papaya plants.

Harvesting :-

Generally Papaya Plant-Red Lady takes 6 month to flower ad another 5 months for harvesting, but it may vary according to the climate conditions and Management
